For this project, I wanted to create a high-energy demo that really showed off what the Rakuten Kobo e-reader lineup can do. My goal was to move past basic 2D graphics and create something that felt more like a premium tech commercial.

I’m a big believer in "measure twice, cut once," so I spent a lot of time in pre-production:
Research & Storyboarding: Before I even opened the software, I did a deep dive into Kobo's brand and the e-reader market. I sketched out a quick storyboard to make sure the flow made sense and that I was hitting the right features.
Audio & Legal: Music is huge for the energy of a video. I found a great track and made sure to get a proper contract for it so all the licensing was handled legally from the start.
The biggest challenge (and the part I’m most proud of) was the 3D integration. I built a model of the Kobo Clara BW in Blender so I could get those realistic angles and lighting that you just can't get with flat images. Once the 3D was ready, I brought it into Adobe After Effects to handle the compositing and the rest of the motion graphics.
3D Modeling & Rendering: Blender (3D Device Integration)
Motion Graphics & Compositing: Adobe After Effects
Pre-Production & Management: Storyboarding, Brand Research, Asset Organization, and Legal/Contract Management
Organization: I’m pretty meticulous about my files. I kept everything organized on my hard drive with a clear folder structure and naming system, which saved me a ton of time during the final edit.
